About Encore Psychology
Dr. Brooke Colman, licensed Clinical Psychologist
Dr. Brooke Colman founded Encore Psychology with a clear conviction: psychological evaluation should give people more than a label. It should give them direction.

A different kind of evaluation
Dr. Colman earned her master’s degree in child and adolescent psychology from the University of Detroit Mercy and her doctorate from the Michigan School of Psychology, where she completed four years of intensive doctoral training. Before founding Encore Psychology, she gained experience across a range of clinical settings: medical and hospital environments, college counseling centers, assessment-based practices, and Veterans Affairs facilities. That breadth of experience informs how she approaches every client, from children as young as two through adults at any stage of life.
Dr. Colman is a licensed Clinical Psychologist in Michigan.
She provides telehealth evaluations to residents of 40 states through PSYPACT (the Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact), which authorizes licensed psychologists to work across state lines.
At the threshold, not a checklist
Dr. Colman describes her work this way: "My work is not about fixing or labeling, but about walking alongside individuals as they better understand themselves."
That principle shapes everything at Encore Psychology. An evaluation here is not a transactional exchange where you arrive, complete a battery of tasks, and receive a printout. It begins at a threshold: Dr. Colman meets with clients before testing begins, listens carefully, and selects instruments deliberately. She chooses the tests that fit the person in front of her.
"Just because I use a standardized type of measure," she explains, "doesn't mean I don't take into account that every experience you have is very unique. I'm very conscientious of the type of tests and measures I use for each person."
The result is a comprehensive, multi-page written report, grounded in your specific history and presenting questions. It includes diagnostic findings, individualized strategies, therapy recommendations, and, where relevant, documentation for accommodations. You leave with a roadmap, not just a summary of scores.
Strengths first
Dr. Colman uses the word "support" deliberately. "I intentionally use the word support rather than help, because I believe we all benefit from having additional support at different points in our lives."
At Encore Psychology, the starting point is always what you already bring: strengths that already exist, capacities that can be built upon. Challenges are addressed with honesty, but they are never the whole picture.
The practice frames itself as a steppingstone on a longer journey. "Encore Psychology is a steppingstone on a lifelong journey of discovery," Dr. Colman says. "We are our patients' biggest cheerleader and support system." That means clients are welcome to return at different stages of life, without starting from scratch. The relationship continues.
Kindness at the core
"Kindness, compassion, and genuine understanding are at the core of my approach," Dr. Colman says. "No two people are the same."
Evaluations are conducted using both traditional paper-and-pencil instruments and iPad-based formats. The practice is testing-led; every evaluation concludes with a written report and a feedback session.
