Testing Accommodations Evaluations
Getting ready to sit for the BAR, MPRE, MCAT, LSAT, GRE, ACT, or SAT? Then you may already know the rule: to get accommodations, you must send the testing board formal proof. That proof comes from a psychological evaluation by a licensed clinician.
Encore Psychology does this testing for students and working professionals. We know the clocks these boards run on. For clients working against a deadline, we offer a faster reporting option.
Encore Psychology is part of Michigan Healthcare Professionals (MHP), a physician group serving the metro Detroit area.
What Testing Boards Require
Each board (the National Conference of Bar Examiners, AAMC, LSAC, Educational Testing Service, College Board, ACT, Inc.) sets its own rules. Most ask for the same core things:
- A diagnosis from a licensed psychologist, backed by current standardized testing
- Proof that the condition clearly limits a major life activity tied to the test format
- Proof of current impact, from testing recent enough to meet your board's rules
- A written report with test scores, what they mean, and the specific accommodations you need
Have older testing or school records? Bring them. Prior records inform the testing and may be folded into the report. In most cases, though, they do not replace current testing.

Evaluations We Support
Encore Psychology conducts accommodations evaluations for the following:
- BAR Exam (National Conference of Bar Examiners and individual state bar documentation)
- MPRE (National Conference of Bar Examiners)
- MCAT (Association of American Medical Colleges)
- LSAT (Law School Admission Council)
- GRE (Educational Testing Service)
- ACT (ACT, Inc.)
- SAT (College Board)
Most of this testing looks at ADHD and learning disorders. The scope is shaped by the clinical question and your own history. Accommodations testing is one part of Encore's full range of psychological evaluations.
The Evaluation Process
Every evaluation at Encore Psychology begins with a dedicated intake session. Dr. Colman listens to your history and the accommodations you are pursuing before any testing takes place. This shapes which instruments she selects and how the report is framed to address the testing board's requirements.
Testing is conducted in person at 33 Bloomfield Hills Parkway, Suite 225, Bloomfield Hills, MI 48304, Monday through Friday. Telehealth evaluations are available to residents of eligible states through PSYPACT. See Online Evaluations for the current list of states.
After testing, you will have a feedback session with Dr. Colman to review what the results show before your written report is finalized. The report is multi-page and includes background, behavioral observations, test scores with interpretation, diagnostic impressions, and specific accommodation recommendations for the relevant testing board.

A 48-hour expedited turnaround is available, useful when a registration or accommodation-application deadline is approaching.
Where the evaluation can happen
Exam accommodations evaluations are conducted in person at our Bloomfield Hills office or virtually under PSYPACT for residents of any of the 40 states that participate. The cognitive and academic testing components are validated for online administration.

Turnaround and the Expedited Option
How quickly you receive your completed report depends on payment method:

| Expedited (private pay only) | 48 hours after testing, for an additional fee |
The 48-hour expedited option is available to private-pay clients for an additional fee, on top of the standard evaluation fee. See Fees and Insurance. This option is designed for clients with an upcoming submission deadline. If your timeline is urgent, mention that when you reach out.
Encore Psychology accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS), Blue Care Network (BCN), and Priority Health. We do not accept Medicaid. Private pay is open to all, and superbills are provided on request for clients seeking out-of-network reimbursement.

The time from your initial contact to your first appointment is typically around six weeks. If your deadline is sooner, let us know when you reach out. We will work with you to plan around your timeline.
Common questions
- Will my exam board accept this evaluation?
- We write to the specific board's documentation requirements. We confirm the board's current requirements during intake. NCBE, LSAC, AAMC, and ETS all have published documentation standards; we work to them.
- Do I need a prior diagnosis?
- Not necessarily. Many of our exam-accommodation clients are being evaluated for the first time. The evaluation will produce diagnostic clarity, and the recommendations are written to the board's standard regardless of prior diagnostic status.
- Can I be evaluated for both ADHD and a learning disorder in the same evaluation?
- Yes. Many of our exam-accommodation clients have both, or are asking about both. We can structure the evaluation to look at both efficiently.
- Will the report support more than one exam?
- Often, yes. A current psychological evaluation typically meets the documentation requirements for multiple boards, let us know during intake if you anticipate needing the report for more than one application.
- How long is the report good for?
- Requirements vary by exam board. We'll confirm your specific board's documentation-recency rule during intake.
