Some evaluations are not about diagnosis in the traditional clinical sense. They are designed to answer a specific legal, administrative, or procedural question, and the findings carry weight in court proceedings, agency decisions, and professional licensing matters. Encore Psychology conducts a defined set of these evaluations, each requiring a neutral, credentialed approach and a clear, written report.
These services are typically arranged through a referring attorney, court, employer, agency, or healthcare organization, though individuals may also self-refer where appropriate.
Encore Psychology is part of Michigan Healthcare Professionals (MHP), a physician group serving the metro Detroit area. Evaluations are conducted under the doctoral-level oversight and supervision of Dr. Brooke Colman, a licensed Clinical Psychologist.
Encore offers seven specialty and forensic evaluation types, all currently in scope: adoption, reproductive and fertility, guardianship, driver's license restoration, fitness for duty, parenting and custody, and independent medical evaluations.

Adoption evaluation
Psychological evaluation of prospective adoptive parents as part of a domestic or international adoption homestudy process.
Adoption evaluationReproductive and fertility evaluation
Psychological evaluation and consultation for egg, sperm, and embryo donation, gestational surrogacy, and IVF or third-party reproduction. Typically arranged through a fertility clinic, donor or surrogacy agency, or attorney.
Reproductive and fertility evaluationGuardianship evaluation
Psychological evaluation supporting guardianship or conservatorship proceedings, typically ordered by a court or arranged through an attorney.
Guardianship evaluationDriver's license restoration evaluation
Psychological evaluation required as part of Michigan's driver's license restoration process for individuals whose license has been revoked following substance-related offenses.
Driver's license restoration evaluationFitness for duty evaluation
Independent psychological evaluation assessing whether an individual is psychologically fit to perform the essential functions of a specific role. Most commonly requested for military personnel, healthcare professionals, and other high-stakes employment contexts.
Fitness for duty evaluationParenting and custody evaluation
A structured evaluation of parenting capacity and the best interests of the child in the context of custody proceedings. Dr. Colman has completed specialized training for this service.
Parenting and custody evaluationIndependent medical evaluation (IME)
Independent psychological evaluation requested by an attorney, insurer, or employer to answer a specific question in a personal injury, disability, or workers' compensation matter. Conducted as a neutral examiner, with a written report addressed to the requesting party.

What to expect on cost and timeline
Specialty evaluations are typically private-pay, because the requesting party (an adoption agency, a court, a fertility clinic) generally requires a single comprehensive report rather than ongoing care. We'll explain exactly what to expect on cost during intake, and we keep timelines transparent so you can plan around any external deadlines.
A 48-hour expedited turnaround is available as a paid add-on, which we’ll discuss during intake if you have a fixed-date deadline.
Specialty evaluations at Encore are conducted by Dr. Brooke Colman, a licensed Clinical Psychologist and part of Michigan Healthcare Professionals (MHP). Dr. Colman brings substantial experience in adoption, guardianship, exam accommodations, and driver's license restoration work, and holds an active referral relationship with the University of Michigan Law School community for bar exam accommodations.
