Psychological Evaluations for Children and Teens
When a parent begins asking whether something is different about how their child learns, pays attention, or processes the world, the search for answers can feel overwhelming. A comprehensive evaluation does not produce a label. It produces a clearer picture, and from that picture, a practical direction forward.
At Encore Psychology, we see children and teens from age two through seventeen, and we work alongside families through every step.

What we evaluate in children and teens
ADHD evaluations
For children and teens, comprehensive ADHD evaluation with teacher input, cognitive testing, and recommendations families can carry into IEPs and 504s.
Autism evaluations
Comprehensive autism evaluations for children and teens from age two. Diagnostic clarity, school-ready reports, and clear recommendations for therapy and accommodations.
Learning disorder evaluations
Reading, writing, math, and processing. Evaluation includes academic achievement testing and the documentation a school will use.
Neuropsychological evaluations
For complex or layered presentations. Dr. Colman selects instruments specifically for each child, rather than running a fixed battery for every case.
Accommodations evaluations
Evaluation supporting accommodation applications for academic standardized testing, including ACT, SAT, and others. Reports formatted for the relevant testing board.

The evaluation process at Encore begins with an intake session. Before any testing starts, Dr. Colman meets with caregivers (and the child, as appropriate for their age) to understand the full picture: history, patterns at home and school, and what questions the family most needs answered.
Testing itself may span one or more sessions, depending on the scope of the evaluation. Encore uses both traditional paper-and-pencil measures and iPad-based formats. This is not a pass/fail exercise. There are no right or wrong answers. The goal is an accurate picture of how your child thinks, learns, and functions.
After testing, Dr. Colman meets with the family for a feedback session to walk through results in plain language, including both strengths and areas to support. Every evaluation concludes with a multi-page written report, organized around findings, diagnostic impressions, and individualized recommendations for home, school, and next steps.
Reports are written to be shared: with teachers, pediatricians, therapists, school teams, or anyone else involved in your child's care.
Where we work
Child and teen evaluations are in-person at our Bloomfield Hills office. The cognitive and behavioral observation that makes a thorough child evaluation work happens better in the same room.
Adults: many of our adult evaluations are available virtually in 40 states. For kids, we keep things in person.
Insurance and scheduling
Encore Psychology is in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS), Blue Care Network (BCN), and Priority Health. Private pay is also available.
The time from initial contact to a first appointment is typically around six weeks. If your situation is time-sensitive, please let us know when you reach out.
Encore Psychology is located at 33 Bloomfield Hills Parkway, Suite 225, Bloomfield Hills, MI 48304, and is available Monday through Friday. Reception coordinates all scheduling; you are welcome to call (248) 452-6669 or submit a contact form any day of the week.

A word on the approach
Dr. Brooke Colman describes her work this way: "My work is not about fixing or labeling, but about walking alongside individuals as they better understand themselves."
That is as true for a seven-year-old as it is for an adult. Families who come to Encore Psychology leave with a roadmap grounded in their child's actual strengths and real needs, not a generic summary. And they are welcome to return as their child grows, without starting over.
