Getting a formal adult ADHD assessment is often something people put off for a long time. Many adults have spent years managing, compensating, and wondering, without ever getting a clear answer.
An adult ADHD evaluation at Encore Psychology is designed to change that. It is a comprehensive, documented assessment of how your attention, executive functioning, and processing actually work, and what those results mean for your specific life. Who Adult ADHD Testing Is For
Adults pursue an ADHD evaluation at Encore for many different reasons:
- You have struggled with focus, follow-through, or organization for most of your life and want to understand why
- You were assessed as a child but never received formal documentation, or your childhood assessment felt incomplete
- You need a formal adult ADHD diagnosis for workplace accommodations, disability documentation, or academic purposes
- A physician, therapist, or counselor has recommended an evaluation
- You want to rule ADHD in or out before pursuing other explanations or treatments
ADHD in adults often looks different than the childhood version. It may show up less as visible hyperactivity and more as difficulty finishing tasks, managing time and emotions, sustaining effort on long projects, or staying present in conversations. A thorough adult ADHD assessment accounts for this.
What Adult ADHD Testing Involves at Encore
Our adult ADHD assessment is a multi-method process built around your full picture, not just a rating scale.
It includes:
- A comprehensive clinical interview covering your current concerns, personal history, and daily functioning
- Standardized ADHD rating scales completed by you
- Validated cognitive and attention measures assessing sustained attention, working memory, processing speed, and executive functioning
- A review of relevant background history, including developmental and academic records where available
Encore Psychology integrates every piece of information with the understanding that attention and executive functioning are not one-size-fits-all. The evaluation reflects how ADHD specifically presents in your life, not a generic profile.
Testing is conducted in person at 33 Bloomfield Hills Parkway, Suite 225, Bloomfield Hills, MI 48304, with appointments available Monday through Friday.
Telehealth Adult ADHD Assessment
Many clients prefer to complete their ADHD evaluation remotely. Encore Psychology is authorized through PSYPACT to provide psychological evaluations in 40 states. Telehealth ADHD assessments are conducted using the same clinical standards as in-person evaluations.
A 48-hour expedited turnaround is available as a paid option; we’ll discuss it during intake if you’d like.
Your Evaluation Report
Your adult ADHD assessment results in a comprehensive, multi-page written report, written in plain language. It is structured as a practical roadmap, not a clinical summary written for other clinicians.
The report includes:
- Diagnostic conclusions and the clinical reasoning that supports them
- A clear explanation of your cognitive and attention profile
- Individualized strategies for focus, organization, time management, and daily functioning
- Therapy recommendations where applicable
- Accommodation documentation, if relevant to your situation
A feedback session walks through results together so you leave with a full understanding of what the findings mean and what to do next.
In person or online
In person, Bloomfield Hills, MI
Our Bloomfield Hills office is set up to feel calm and unhurried. In-person evaluations work well for clients who prefer face-to-face interaction or who find that a different environment supports focus.
Online, in 40 states
PSYPACT is an agreement among participating states that lets a licensed psychologist work across state lines. Encore is authorized to provide psychological evaluations in 40 states. Online evaluations work well for adults whose local wait-lists are long, who prefer the comfort of evaluating from home, or whose schedules make in-person impractical.

Insurance, Fees, and Turnaround
We accept Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS), Blue Care Network (BCN), and Priority Health for adult ADHD evaluations. Private pay is available. We do not accept Medicaid.
Turnaround after testing is complete:
- Private pay: report within 5 to 10 business days
- Insurance: 6 to 8 weeks (or longer)
- Expedited 48-hour report: private pay only, additional fee (a good option when accommodations documentation is time-sensitive)
Wait time from first contact to your initial appointment is typically around six weeks. If you have a deadline in mind, let us know when you reach out.

Questions adults ask before scheduling
Will I get a diagnosis?
An evaluation produces diagnostic clarity. Sometimes that means an ADHD diagnosis, sometimes a different diagnosis, sometimes a clear "no" with a different explanation for the patterns you've been experiencing. The point is to know.
Do you prescribe ADHD medication?
No. Encore Psychology is a non-prescribing practice. If medication is appropriate to consider, the evaluation report will include a clear referral to a prescribing provider.
Can I have an ADHD evaluation if I'm already in therapy?
Yes. Many of our adult-ADHD clients come to us through their therapists, and we coordinate with treatment providers when it's helpful. The evaluation answers a different question than therapy does; one doesn't replace the other.
Can the report be used for graduate-exam accommodations (LSAT, MCAT, GRE, bar)?
Yes, when an evaluation supports it, we write recommendations formatted specifically for the relevant exam board. We have a long-standing referral relationship with the University of Michigan Law School community for bar accommodations work.
Is the evaluation different for women / gender-diverse adults?
Adult ADHD presents differently across gender, and many women and gender-diverse adults were missed in childhood because earlier diagnostic frameworks were built around male presentations. We use evaluation measures and clinical interviewing that account for this.
Can I be tested for ADHD and autism in the same evaluation?
Yes. Many of our adult clients arrive with both possibilities on the table, and the evaluation can be structured to look at both efficiently; there's substantial overlap in the clinical interviewing and several of the measures.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can schedule directly with our team.
How long does the report take?
Standard turnaround is 5 to 10 business days after the final evaluation session for private pay, and 6 to 8 weeks for insurance. A 48-hour expedited private-pay option is available for fixed-date deadlines, for an additional fee.
Can my evaluation be virtual if I live outside Michigan?
Yes, if you live in one of the 40 states that participate in PSYPACT. We'll confirm eligibility before scheduling.
